    Oil Testing Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjT3B9r2z3fXlvbP3tb9e056Q8O5krrCW

I purchased all of the oils tested and am not sponsored by any of the brands tested, nor do I sell any of the products tested. The testing methods outlined in this video are my own and not performed using expensive oil lab testing equipment or following the ASTM, SAE or API testing standards. The three tests outlined in the video include tests for viscosity at varying temperatures, film strength, and evaporative testing. In my opinion, the testing approaches used in this video provide consumers with valuable information on choosing the right motor oil for their specific application. Like to see how AMSOIL XL which is cheaper then Amsoil Signature. BUT Amsoil XL is the same price of the Pennzoil and Castrol Synthetic oil.

Thankyou for the unbiased testing! These oils need to be exposed that aren’t what you pay for! If I’m gonna pay 13+ for a couple quarts of oil, I want proven best!

Have you run across any oil additives that enhanced the performance of the most expensive oils? I had used royal purple and noticed it cleaned off the cam I could see in the fill port on the valve cover of my 99 Taurus duratec. This was a surprise to me because I had did a gunk engine flush at 110k miles and it didn't change but after 144k miles I did the royal purple synthetic oil change, checked oil level after it had been in at 500 miles and it was noticeably darker but I could see inside the valve cover that the exhaust cam was definitely clean compared to before the change.

People's thoughts on Castrol 0W-20 vs competition like Mobil & Valvoline? Competition as in what you can buy at Walmart. Wondering for commuter car to elongate life as long as possible. Thanks!

I don't understand why the cooked oils are flowing faster then the uncooked. isn't it better to flow faster? doesn't that represent that the oil will get to the engine parts faster? please help

Oh and another idea I’m thinking of is maybe comparing Pennzoil, Valvoline and Castrol products comparing their conventional, semi-synthetic and fully synthetic oil offerings and maybe cross comparison charts as well

Test Idea : tires. I'm always spending a lot on high performance tires and I'd like to know which brand is the best. The price of the tires should be relatively cheap for testing however I have no idea how you would set up the test... so that's where your Ingenuity will come into play I'm sure you can figure it out. we would want to test for flexibility which leads to grip and endurance verses that flexibility such as not wearing out after a month. I think setting up the test will be the most expensive part if you choose to do this.

Good to know about the additives that Redline is using. I assumed incorrectly that they were using higher grade base stocks to make up for lower/smaller additive packages, but it appears they're going all out.

Another awesome video! Redline for southern vehicles, Amsoil for both north and south, and Pennzoil Ultra for northern vehicles. Though Pennzoil is inexpensive, and excellent available at Wally World (for 26 dollars for 5 Quarts), for all applications. The most cost effective oil insurance is Pennzoil Ultra in my opinion.

Todd, thanks to your testing, I went to Walmart yesterday and bought two oil changes worth of Pennzoil Platinum to put in both my 19 Chevy 2500 and my 08 Toyota Sienna. I had been a Mobil 1 man before. It was even cheaper at $22/gallon compared to $26/gallon for Mobil 1Thanks again for all you do.

It might be worth mentioning that TBN is not a terribly useful number anymore in the industry. The amount of acids produced from engines was greatly reduced when the switch to low sulfur fuel was made, and the need for neutralizing bases was also reduced. Percent change in TBN over time can still be useful, but other factors will almost certainly limit the life of an oil before this and the number itself carries less weight these days I believe. Food for thought.

Amsoil is the only oil in N. America that passes the LSPI test 100%.. 20% is all it needs to qualify (dexos Gen2.) So it doesn't pre-ignight in new GDI engines preventing piston damage. All others willl fix this once GF6 is out in 2020 forcing Mobil 1 (for example) to once again use 100% synthetic base causing the price to increase about 15%.

Maybe you should use a pure antiwear Vs a good oil brand to see witch one dose better now that would be worth a try .... Thank you for all your amazing content .... Still waiting on the absinthe and other liquor engine test 😁

Never been a fan of kendall motor oil. I've dug more sludge out of kendal engines that were served regularly in my 34 years in a GM dealership.
