I used to use that stuff to braze .065 woven steel mesh to 1.25 hexagonal stock.... it’s wonderful stuff.

Ok I got it 😁! Just cause I noticed the buttons means I'm not a velder. Maybe a Boilermaker though. Krotiens don't have a W in their vocabulary.

Wear decent gloves... The fumes from this stuff burnt the skin off the back of my hands a few years back.

"For reference, here's a 3/32" filler rod" Are you building a weld coupon for ants??

I know this is a way old vid and hope you see this post. I don't know if anyone has mentioned, back up on the arc length for brazing. Will give a bigger "heat effected zone" thus won't have to wash. Or use fancy pulse or anything 😜

What brand of filler rod did you use? This is a good learning video. They way you present it with adjustments of machine and technique. Love it and thanks for taking your time and money to bring videos like this to us.

So it's literally soldering, not welding.

why no flux? I thought the flux helped work the bronze. or is that only with torch brazing?

You know that there is a video of yours on in regards to the tig welder of yours... Also, the price of that thing... made me sick... Back in my day, you could buy a house with that kinda money... Much love <3

I used this method to replace broken fins on some 1946 Harley knuckle heads, after grinding, shaping, blasting, and painting they looked like new.

Great video as always, but I'm curious about the overall strength you achieved and is it functional.

So how do you weld mahogany to cherry then, if SiB won’t do the trick?

Having done soldering, silver soldering, silver brazing, etc, etc, etc, I can totaly agree about the difference between gas brazing and TIG brazing. For those not in the know, a properly fit up joint that is well cleaned, fluxed, and heated with the filler applied in the correct way and amount with a gas torch will result in fillets on both the outside and inside of the joint as well as the interface. The result is a weld that far exceeds the strength of the base metals in most cases. Think CrMo motorcycle and bicycle frames as a prime example. Some aircraft frames use this method as well. I have used silver solder to join parts to make custom hydraulic fittings even that held

Great video, thank you. I am not finding zinc free silicon bronze TIG rod, most have some percentage by weight of zinc. Can you recommend a specific product? Thank you
