Genetic Engineering Will Change Everything Forever – CRISPR

  • Published on: 10 August 2016
  • Designer babies, the end of diseases, genetically modified humans that never age. Outrageous things that used to be science fiction are suddenly becoming reality. The only thing we know for sure is that things will change irreversibly.

I really hate how Kurzgesagt conveniently ignores the material conditions of this world. We can't even get basic medical care to millions of people in the richest country on earth. So this gene editing stuff? Rich people only. You think the divide between the Elite and the rest of us is bad now? Oh boy just you wait. If you aren't willing to wipe out the rich now. Then just don't have kids. Between automation and gene editing, the future for everyone who isn't a millionaire is.....dark, to say the least.

anyone else sad that due to the nature of this, we can't genetically modify ourselves to the level of a "genetically engineered baby"?

That is fucking crazy, but I don't even know if people born before the 2000s will even get a chance to experience this, or even people from th 2030s

@ 2:04 Fun fact, there does exist an actual monument to lab mice in Novosibirsk, Russia. It's a laboratory mouse wearing pince-nez knitting a double helix of DNA.

In short, genetic engineering will lead us to artificial robot babies and humans. I am an engineer myself and this is beyond non-sense. working on ageing.

The sooner the species moves to super-intelligence, the better. I'd trade 30 years of my life to be x3 or x4 smarter than I am right now.
