I Bought An Outfit At A Fake Market In Hong Kong

  • So we traveled to East Asia to film a six-part series about beauty, style, and shopping and here is the 5th installment - in which we went to a "fake" market in Hong Kong and bought head to toe fake designer outfits! The Ladies' Market in Hong Kong is famous for having a lot of counterfeit and knockoff clothing and accessories, from fashion "brands" like Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Off-White, Fendi, Supreme, Peppa Pig, and more! It was an ~interesting experience~, to say the least! What did you think of our fake market finds?

A huge thank you to Taylor for accompanying us to the market :)

I visit Hong Kong a lot. It’s a family tradition to do so since we live somewhat near, in Australia! In September of 2019 while we visited, me and my father got caught in a protest. It was honestly frightening and we could’ve been seriously hurt. (Considering there was hundreds of protestors, police and tear gas being shot off.) If you’re wondering where we were, it was on Hong Kong Island, Admiralty. We had to leg it back to the Ferry, to go back to Kowloon :’) In conclusion, the protests are STILL going on and I urge anyone who goes or actually lives there to be safe. Don’t get stuck in one like I did haha

While visiting these kind of local markets, don't ever praise their stuff.. don't ever give them a notion that u r an outsider. Don't ever be overly dressed go like a begger 😂 plus do bargain like below half of the amount they tell u!

As someone who scours these markets for thrift stuff the prices are ridiculously high— they have these type of markets across China too and I can usually get decently good stuff for ¥50, ¥100, ¥200 max (HKD is 0.92 of Chinese yen so they’re about the same). If you barter with them long enough and threaten to leave they usually give in lmao

Pro tip, run a lighter over the fabric. If it's leather, it'll be fine. If it's fake, it'll melt! A lot of vendors in Italy do that to prove the veracity of their stuff
