I too was worried about the interview. The first question I was asked was to confirm my address. I stumbled under stress, but the immigration officer calmly said, it is ok relax. Then I collected myself and was able to tell him my address and continued.I would also like to say that at every stage of the citizenship process, the people at USCIS in Seattle were kind, polite and professional. I got to take oath that day, 56 people from 52 countries. The people administering the oath were as excited for us as we were. My journey was 17 years in the making. H1B visas, then green card then citizenship. My only regret is that I waited to the end of my 10 year green card to apply for citizenship. I could have and should have done this years ago. Last time I looked, the backlog for citizenship at the Seattle office was 20,000 and nationally 750,000. With a rejection rate of 1% of applicants, that is a lot of people who will become a citizen waiting and the stress it comes up with. If you are in that queue, be patient and your time will come. Worth the wait. When I tell Americans my story and progress, they are surprised as to what is involved. Some even question whether I am telling the truth. If you are of the opinion that they hand out citizenship to anyone; rather than reading or watching your favorite "news" channel, got to USCIS to see what is required: https://www.uscis.gov/citizenship/educators/naturalization-information Yes, you have to have a green card and that is no simple process either. When you hear "go back to your country and apply for citizenship", note that is not how it works. You have to get a green card first and then live in the US for 5 years before applying or 3 years if you marry a US person.

They don't hire the articulate or responsible. They don't hand off to their superiors. They, instead, raise up the angry and the needy. If they seek their failure it's 3/4 empty. Their battles are of the mind as far as you can see and they have few wits about them without a pill to sharpen them. If I were a scout we'd attack 'morrow.

It really is absurd that we classify people so strictly by accident of their birth.

In Middle School, my class had to take the Citizenship Test. I was 1 of 5 people who passed. 30 people took it. This was in Missouri.

Why does he make it sound like it is hard to get it? He let his green card expire, well buddy that one is on you, wtf. After you become a green card holder, 5 years after that you apply for citizenship and year after you become a citizen. As simple as that!

Cause of this did anyone get a weird snap thing under the video of some kid smashing a record sayin ‘John Oliver I’m comin for you’ ? I’m very confused, a little scared and slightly aroused by the pure alpha behavior.

I don't like the host. The show is just question and answer and then next question and answer. No conversation like Conan'O Brian.

In the old days a Brit becoming an Australian citizen had to swear allegiance to the head of state of the country they just came from.

Welcome to the IRS chasing you for taxes the world over. In Europe lots of Americans can't wait to get rid of their citizenship, ask Tina Turner.

Mr. Oliver obviously failed to comprehend the very first words of his oath of citizenship: "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen..."
