Everything Wrong With Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark in a SCAAARY Amount of Minutes

  • Published on: 28 January 2020
  • Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is the most Guillermo del Toro movie that Guillermo del Toro didn't direct. And like every horror movie these days, it's also got bullies and monsters and sins!

Remember, no movie is without sin! Which movie's sins should we expose next?!

I had these books as a child when they came out, all of them, and they honestly were/are fucking terrifying. The illustrations...they WERE NOT for children. Some of them are still burned into my brain. And honestly, they should've made this movie like Creepshow. Trying to give an actual plot to a series of short stories that aren't connected just doesn't work well.

What was the deal with telling her the truth? Sarah already knew the truth. She was tortured and killed because she wouldn't back down and lie about what her family did. Telling other people the truth? Yeah, I can see that. But the way they kept saying "Tell her the truth!" just sounded pointless to me.

Two sins not mentioned. Chuck says in the next seen after spiderbite sister survived says, "My sister is gone!" implying that she did die. Soooooo did she suddenly die of spider venom? But no bodies? Wtf movie? Also when seeing old blind Baptiste, her caretaker has a pointless scene calling Nixon "Tricky Dick" and movie suggests Nixon was encouraging more U.S. troops in Vietnam. It's 1968. Watergate wasn't until 1973. And Nixon was opposed to sending more troops since '59. Even his Vietnamization was focused on using more S. Vietnamese instead of Americans. And it's stupid I have to correct pretentious history errors in a horror movie! 3 sins for that alone!
