Hey Scotty, I was just told by my michanic to replace my front brake pads and rotors. He says the brake pads are worn (which seems fine) but also says the rotors have a line on them. This is only after the car has done 15500 miles. That too I don't drive very fast. Seemed like a scam to me but wanted to know your thoughts...please help.

I NEED HELP PLEASE!!! I took my car to a dealership to get an oil change, on the way home was perfectly fine, I parked it at home and life was good so far, after a week when I drove it again I ran it on the freeway it started to make a weird dry noise, I check the motor oil and the oil dipstick, it came out dry!!!! when I called the tow truck the guy notices that the back of the car was all splashed of motor oil, it looks like the car ran out of oil because it burned it all through the exhaust, by then I only drove it no more than 6 miles after I drove it from the dealership. I had to tow the car to my home due to the dealer was closed when that happened. I called the next Monday and they sent a technician to check it, after he took a look at it they towed it to the dealership. Once at the dealership they are telling me that there was this hose that busted and that is the reason why the car ran out of oil. Does anybody has any idea if what the dealership makes sense or do ya'll think that they are trying to cover an error they made at the dealership?

Hello Scotty-----Walmart puts a sticker, the date of manufacture, on the top of the battery so if you loose your receipt, they calculate your refund based on this date. Put your receipt in an envelope, inside a plastic bag and then into your glove box so you don't loose it. I have one of Walmart's MAXX-24 batteries in my truck and as of this month, it has been in my truck for 5 whole years and it is still going strong! Have a good day.-----Lynn

    Damn! Thanks for the info...

  • Automotive electronics from schematics by Joseph

Couple of things first dealerships won't protect their investments by putting computer codes to repair fault making it harder for the average guy to do his home repairs number two you cannot disconnect batteries and thing check engine light will go away if you have a misfire on a cylinder The problem will not solve himself it is a hard code in computer memory and last when you come to repair place and you'll see all the cars outside with the hoods up that means it's just trying to look busy like they have so many repairs

  • Automotive electronics from schematics by Joseph

The dealerships are making it harder for the average person to repair their own cars they have their own codes that you have to program and this makes it harder for the average person who doesn't have that information That's called protecting their investment

My battery in my 4 month old brand new 2011 Toyota Venza died after I parked the car for about 20 minutes. Came out to get in and tried starting car. I didn’t even get lights, the car was dead. It’s a good thing I had stopped at a neighbor’s and my home was down the street. Had the care towed back to dealer and I needed a brand new battery. A brand new car that only had 279 miles on it when I bought it and it was only that much mileage because they drove the car in from another state because I wanted the Barcelona Red car and my dealer didn’t have one. 😄

Scotty, just picked up a new 2020 Odyssey, is it worth using synthetic motor oil? Like Mobile 1? I also currently have a 06 Honda Element with 194k and have been using Mobile 1 from the moment I bought it new. I'd appreciate your input.

Scotty I've had good results desulfating batteries using the BatteryMinder. My current one is a three year old battery I bought from a junkyard. Initially it was supposed to be good but had cold cranking amps that were about 10% low. I put it on the BatteryMinder and after two weeks of continuous desulfation it was back up to 100%.

The maint. reqd. light is turned off by popping the led off the cluster with a screwdriver. It can turn on all it wants in the landfill. While you're in there don't forget the seat belt, srs, cruise and automatic headlight led's. Also, the retard buzzer is on the back of most clusters now.

That advice on batteries is very helpful. It never occurred to Me to look for a “fresh” battery. Now I know, thanks
