  • Hello friends! So as some of you may know, I am engaged, betrothed, and affianced - and so I hereby introduce you to part 1 of our 4 part wedding video series! Being the fashion history enthusiast that I am, I decided to do a little exploration into wedding dresses through history and try on 5 authentic vintage wedding dresses (with era-appropriate hairstyling, makeup, and bouquets to boot!) - ranging from the Victorian Era to the 1980s! Which look was your favorite?

I'm IN LOVE with this vid and the content.... But the green transition flashes? Killing me. I'll try not streaming from my phone to see if it's a connection thing but... It's hella distracting. Not content related hate! Wanna make that clear 100%

The older the dress the more mature you looked. My favorite period for fashion is the 40's. My favorite on you of these was the 60's look. But ultimately, your actual wedding dress on you was stunning.

Why does the 60s dress look like she's from Jersey? I just get those vibes.

So is 7:15 a photo of Safiya’s grandmother’s wedding? Or is that a previous incarnation of Safiya’s on the right there?

I personally find the dress from the 1940s (ish) really pretty despite the plainness of it for WWII and totally my type

I love the 40s look very much. This was fascinating! Thanks for doing research. My mom’s parents got married during WWII and they didn’t take a single picture of their courthouse wedding, but grandma still looked lovely in my uncle’s 60s wedding and my mother’s 80s wedding. We do have a decent amount of photos of my grandparents during the war though, so I can imagine a bit, and more so with your description of the time. ☺️
